Course Description
This course is a review of the diseases and disorders of the immune system. It covers the biological structures and processes within the body that work together to provide the basic protections against invading pathogens such as fungi, viruses, and animalistic parasites. Particular attention is spent on those diseases that the massage therapist is most likely to encounter, such as Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and HIV/Aids.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this home study continuing education course, the massage practitioner should be able to:
- Define the terms Allergy.
- Identify the components of the Immune system.
- Identify the components of the Lymphatic system.
- Define the terms HIV and Aids.
- List the modes of transmission of HIV.
- Identify the symptoms of systemic lupus.
