My name is Michael and I am your continuing education provider for this course.  This course is approved by the NCBTMB for 3 hours of continuing education credit and meets the Florida state requirement for Human Trafficking. We are currently in the process of submitting this human trafficking training course for approval to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. As of now, this approval is still pending.

Target Audience
This continuing education course has been designed to meet the educational needs of massage therapists, but it is also good general information for anyone that wants to learn how to help victims of Human Trafficking.  There are two sections on local help and resources, one specific for Florida and one specific for Texas,  but the rest of the course applies to all states.

Course Description
This course is an in-depth study of human trafficking, with an emphasis on identifying it in the massage industry and the necessary steps to report it to the proper authorities.  It also includes a detailed section for identifying victims and steps a victim of trafficking can take to get out of their situation safely as possible.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this home study continuing education course, the massage practitioner should be able to:

  • Identify the steps that a massage therapist can take to report suspected Human Trafficking.
  • List the Red Flags of Trafficking in the massage industry.
  • Differentiate between labor trafficking and sex trafficking.
  • Differentiate between people smuggling and human trafficking.
  • List the resources available in Florida/Texas to provide immediate help (shelter, food, and legal counsel) to Trafficking victims.

This course is presented for educational purposes only. It was developed and marketed specifically for massage therapists that are required to obtain continuing education hours for licensing purposes. The author is not giving medical, legal or other professional advice.

This course is classified as “Cognitive” learning, meaning that there is no hands-on portion.

12 Hour Daily Limit
Please be advised that our school limits our students to 12 hours of continuing education per day (four of our 3-hour courses). So if you need 36 hours of continuing education be prepared to space it out over three days.
