Course Description
This course is designed to offer a detailed introduction to the fundamental concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as they apply to massage therapists. It covers the basic theory and history of Traditional Chinese Medicine and takes an unbiased evidenced-based look at the efficacy of TCM based somatic therapies. It introduces the foundational concepts and theories upon which all forms of Asian bodywork are based on.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this home study continuing education course, the massage practitioner should be able to:

  • Define the terms Meridian, and Chi
  • List the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
  • Explain the connection between Acupuncture and Acupressure.
  • Explain how the traditional practice of Moxibustion is similar to the use of Hot Stones in western massage therapy.
