The course shows the student how hot stone techniques can be incorporated into holistic therapeutic practice, which will be of great value to practitioners of body working therapies. Safety measures, contraindications, and proper care and cleaning of the stones is also covered.
Upon completion of this home study continuing education course, the massage practitioner should be able to:
- Describe the physiological benefits of hot stone therapy (thermotherapy)
- List the appropriate range of temperatures for the safe use of stones.
- Describe the motions used when incorporating hot stones in a massage.
- Identify the contraindications for hot stone therapy.
