Welcome to Confidentiality and the Massage practice

My name is Michael and I am your NCBTMB Approved continuing education provider. Thanks for taking my course!

To earn your 3 hours of continuing education credit you must read this course (easy) and then take a short quiz on what you read (less easy, but honestly, still not hard).

Course Description
The purpose of this program is to provide massage therapists with information about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), especially as it relates to providing massage treatment in a medical office, such as with a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist. It also provides a refresher of basic confidentiality ethics.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this home study continuing education course, the massage practitioner should be able to:

  • Describe the intent of HIPAA.
  • Identify potential breaches of confidentiality in a massage practice.
  • Implement professional practices that protect client privacy.

This course is presented for educational purposes only. It was developed and marketed specifically for massage therapists that are required to obtain continuing education hours for licensing purposes. The author is not giving medical, legal or other professional advice.

This course is classified as “Cognitive” learning, meaning that there is no hands-on portion.

12 Hour Daily Limit
Please be advised that our school limits our students to 12 hours of continuing education per day (four of our 3-hour courses). So if you need 36 hours of continuing education be prepared to space it out over three days.
